The Master of Arts degree program in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (M.A. TESOL) has prepared individuals for professional careers for over 40 years. Our graduates are employed throughout the US and the world in positions involving language teaching, teacher training, materials development, assessment, and program administration.
We believe that professionals in the field of TESOL should have a combination of theory and practical experience. To accomplish that goal, our program provides coursework that focuses on the link between theory and practice. In this way, students gain an understanding of the principles of the field as they prepare to develop their careers in the field of language learning and teaching. Although the focus is on English, many of the principles and practices are applicable to other languages. Students also have the opportunity to design the curriculum for and teach an ESL course.
